So I went out and did it! I broke the bank and bought a GoPro camera. Along with a roll bar mount and a 16 GB memory card. Way too much $$$, I won't tell if you don't.
I'm using the roll bar mount on my head tube. It seems to work well, although I am getting the brake cables in the shot. I may look into a helmet mount like Jimmy at CycleFit suggested.

I shot a little test video in the basement, which is very dark. I could see the shot and it did not look too bad, I think it will be an amazing image in the daylight. One thing is for sure,  it really picks up all the sounds from the bike ie: brake levers, and all other mechanical noises as well. I may replace the solid back with the open one to allow sound in. In the mean time, I will simply cut out the audio and overlay music. Can't wait till the next time I ride so I can check it out. This will come in very handy for the charity rides I plan on riding this year, as well as the group rides.

First video out spinning

Yesterday I shot the first video while out spinning. It proved to be poor at best. The quality was poor, but worse is the seemingly inability to edit the videos in iMovie. The Vivitar creates videos in AVI formate, I don't know if this is standard or not as I am learning as I go. Three movies were created yesterday, the batteries failed once, I turned it off at CycleFit and last avi is from CycleFit to home. It seems that iMovie can't handle three movies in one project. The first imports fine, the second and third blanks out (grey previews).  Not sure how I'm going to handle this, I did download a trial version of Wondershare Vivideo.

More to come.

I picked up a inexpensive video camera this past Saturday. A Vivitar DVR 480 Helmet Cam. Only was $40.00 at Target. Has a mount for the handlebars, which I have used. With the snow on Saturday I did not get out to ride, but I did try out the camera in my car. Here is a video I posted on YouTube from Best Buy to home. Hope I will get better at using iMovie and editing in general.

Seems to be hard for me to post here.

Time flies. The last posting I had here was last July, that's 6 months ago.
I will try to do better. I will try to post more on my cycling here. Already have Strava linked here, that's a start.

Today's ride with West Chester Cycling Club

It started out all wrong. Jane, the ride leader of the ride we were hoping on had placed the wrong ride on WCCC's website: http://www.wccyclingclub.com/postedrides/postedrides_view.php
When Lisa and I arrived at 106 Gay Street in West Chester expecting to find Aloha Café it simply was not there. We asked a few folks about the cafe" but no one seemed to have heard of it. Someone over heard Lisa asking a waitress about it and they said that the WCCC meets at a church a couple of blocks down the street. We found the church in time to see groups of riders pulling out. I seen a small group of folks in the parking lot. Asking them for Jane and her ride they explained to me that she made a mistake and her ride was different than posted, also that she had already left. Libby was the person's name I was speaking to, Libby said that we could join her. We asked what class explaining that we are class "C" riders. She stated that her ride was a "C" ride, so off we wentFirst clue that it as going to be a memorable ride was when Libby asked Lisa if we had our Ride waver? When Lisa said "no", Libby replied "well, if you have an accident, we don't know you".
All was well until about the 20 mile mark, I was lagging behind because of the hills, looking up I seen Lisa but no one else. Thinking, shit we've been dropped! Lisa stopped and waited for me, yep we were dropped alright. Luckily we seen some other riders that gave us directions back to the car. Easy really Rt 82 south to Rt 842 east.

We made it back uninjured, but very worn out from the hills. mapmyride.com states that we had two category 5 hills on the way back, my legs agree.

Better luck next time.

Well.... It's offically over

It's Friday evening already! This week vanished right in front of my eyes.
Not really looking forward to returning to work, although it is inevitable.

I have a 40 plus mile bike ride planned tomorrow morning with Lisa.
We are planning on joining West Chester Cyclists. it promisses to be challenging, I expect some hills. I need to embrace the hills because in the long run they will make me stronger.

Thats all for now folks.
